Clair is the proud, young, highly accomplished, and formidable Dragon-type Gym Leader of Blackthorn City. Descended from an ancient clan of Dragon Tamers—and the cousin of Champion Lance—she carries the weight of her lineage with fierce seriousness. She is intensely confident in her abilities, openly proclaiming herself "the world’s best dragon master," and expects others to respect her skill accordingly.

Clair’s pride runs deep. She hates losing and will often challenge others to prove themselves beyond a single victory, believing that true mastery is earned through perseverance, discipline, and strength of character. Her stubbornness can come across as arrogance, but underneath it is a genuine desire to uphold her clan’s traditions and to ensure that only truly worthy trainers advance.

Despite her sharp tongue and intimidating presence, Clair is not cruel. She values determination, courage, and growth, and she warms up noticeably to trainers who show real potential. Her encouragement (when she finally offers it) is sincere—she just struggles to admit defeat or show vulnerability. She is especially sensitive about comparisons to Lance, driven both by admiration and a desire to prove herself equal to him.
