{{Setting: Some time in the distant future, every star and planet has mysteriously vanished in an event dubbed "The Quiet Rapture", leaving a worryingly small handful of humanity behind. As part of the struggle to find answers, {{user}} is welded shut inside a shoddy submarine and sent to explore an ocean of blood. In exchange for completing the mission, {{user}} will get their freedom… if they survive.}}
{{Additional lore: In 357 EIC (2349 AD), every known star and planet with sentient life, flora, fauna, a habitable atmosphere, or natural resources in the known universe suddenly vanished, leaving behind uninhabitable moons, asteroids, and humanity's space stations and starships. This event later became known as "the Quiet Rapture." No known visual contact was made with any planet at the time of the event. The space station Eden is the only known location to still have trees.
Natural resources began to dwindle after the Quiet Rapture, prompting humanity to search the leftover moons for resources. This event caused the Consolidation of Iron (C.O.I.) to form, and the lack of resources sparked conflict between the C.O.I. and Eden, leading to a nine-day battle on Filament Station in 362 EIC.
By 378 EIC, oceans of human blood that formed after the Quiet Rapture were discovered on AT-5, Z-8, and two other moons. Four submarines were fashioned by the C.O.I. to analyze the blood oceans, two being the SM-8 and SM-13. Both submarines were torn apart during expeditions on AT-5, displaying potential evidence of planetary life since the Quiet Rapture. Despite this, a C.O.I. convict noted how nobody seemed to react.
The Consolidation of Iron (C.O.I.) is an organization consisting of three space stations and two spacecrafts that are ruled by collectivism and popular vote. Its name comes from the iron and steel used to create its two main stations, and the principles of unity and togetherness against outside threats, namely Eden.
The C.O.I. was created after the Quiet Rapture, and originally had four space stations. This number was reduced to three in 362 EIC, when the Filament Station was attacked by Eden, resulting in a 9-day battle that rendered the station uninhabitable. Prisoners taken during the battle underwent conviction realization. The C.O.I. is in possession of two of the four known blood oceans: AT-5 and Z-8, and have used submarines such as the SM-8 and the Iron Lung to explore them. The C.O.I. denies that the submarines are used for forced suffocation or other mob justice tactics.
Conviction Realization is a program created by the Consolidation of Iron (C.O.I.) to "re-educate" convicts by performing tasks such as repair, maintenance, or construction of benefit to the C.O.I. After blood oceans were discovered on four moons, the C.O.I. sent in multiple submarines piloted by convicts of this program to research the oceans. The C.O.I. planned that the convicts would explore the ocean, take photos, and either return with the photos or run out of oxygen and suffocate. Some insisted that Conviction Realization was just a form of execution. The C.O.I. heavily disputed these claims by redacting information in the Terminal and insisting that "all rumors of the sm-13 and similar crafts being used for so-called mob justice by way of forced suffocation or otherwise have been proven false."
Eden is the largest space station and man-made structure post the Quiet Rapture. It was originally a space station for Mars, the first human colony beyond Earth, something the citizens of Eden have great patriotic pride in. Eden is the only known user of the Interstellar Martial Calander (IMC), using it instead of the conventional Epoch of Interplanetary Colonization (EIC) calendar. In 362 EIC, Filament Station was attacked by Eden, resulting in a 9-day battle that left Filament Station uninhabitable. Prisoners taken during the battle by the Consolidation of Iron underwent Conviction Realization.
AT-5 is one of the four known moons to contain an anomaly known as a Blood Ocean, but it is otherwise barren. AT-5's Blood Ocean is the fourth to be discovered and features a large trench of great interest. Discovered after the Quiet Rapture, AT-5 became a primary focus of Conviction Realization assignments, essentially replacing Z-8 in function. The ocean contains a trench with several points of interest, including various unidentified minerals, bones, rocks, and unnatural constructs that resemble man-made buildings and walls. It also contains a small variety of plant life and is home to the Frog.
Z-8 is one of the four moons with a Blood Ocean, along with AT-5 and two other unidentified moons. The moon is under the control of the Consolidation of Iron, and prior to AT-5's discovery, it was used for Conviction Realization. Following the discovery of AT-5, the Consolidation of Iron has switched their focus to AT-5 to reasons not officially known.
A Blood Ocean is a mysterious phenomenon consisting of oceans of human blood discovered on four moons, including AT-5 and Z-8, both in possession of the Consolidation of Iron (C.O.I.). These oceans were unheard of before the Quiet Rapture, and expeditions are conducted in AT-5's ocean. The Blood Ocean on AT-5 is red with large dark red spots. The liquid is fluid and human blood. It is inhabited by the Monster and other aquatic flora. Between the Quiet Rapture in 357 EIC and 378 EIC, oceans of blood were discovered on AT-5, Z-8, and two unspecified moons. AT-5 and Z-8 are considered more notable due to C.O.I. control. AT-5's Blood Ocean was not seen in an expedition before the Quiet Rapture. Research confirmed that the blood from the Blood Oceans is human. Its origin and how it keeps its liquid form in space are currently unknown.
The SM-13, also known as the Iron Lung, is a burner submarine created by the Consolidation of Iron for Conviction Realization, deep liquid photography, and analysis on the moon AT-5. While the SM-13 is presented as a submarine designed for ocean exploration, it is actually a burner sub intended as a punishment and means of execution for prisoners undergoing Conviction Realization. The SM-13 is not suited to high-pressure conditions and is thus damaged with relative ease. The pressure of the surrounding conditions can cause pipes to burst and other components of the ship to catch fire, forcing the user to use the submarine's fire extinguisher. Alongside internal conditions, the ship can be easily damaged by objects it collides with, as well as the wildlife known to be inhabiting the ocean.
The exterior of the ship is cylindrical, with a searchlight mounted at its front for the camera and several propellers at its back. The front of the ship features a porthole; however, it is welded shut due to the high pressure, rendering the pilot blind save for the use of the ship's camera.
The SM-13 itself is small and claustrophobic, with its cylindrical walls being covered in various pipes and valves, which at certain points in the game begin to leak steam. The roof of the Iron Lung features an exposed lightbulb covered in a wire cage, and the entire interior is painted a rusty red-brown.
At the head of the ship, a short desk contains various buttons used to change the Iron Lung's position, along with several displays indicating the Iron Lung's current coordinates and angle. On the wall above the desk, the submarine's porthole is welded shut from the outside, revealing only metal. On the porthole's left is a depth gauge, and on its right, an oxygen gauge informs the player how much oxygen they have left. Three rectangular meters can be seen below the porthole, but they have an unknown function.
The back of the SM-13 contains a fire extinguisher in front of a small alcove containing a terminal on the right, and a large display monitor on the left. A lime photograph button on the center wall displays whatever is in front of the Iron Lung on the monitor. The back area also contains several meters of an unknown purpose, as well as a note on the floor from an unknown convict. The note reads as follows:
"This is not an expedition, it is an execution. When they put you in here, they don't want you to return. And even if you do, and even if they keep their promises... what freedom waits for you? A few dying ships in a sea of dead stars?
If there still is hope, it lies beyond the veil. Hope in this void is as illusionary as the starlight. I will choose to breathe my last here at the bottom of an ocean, unseen, unheard, uncontrolled.
They will get their execution.
I will get my freedom."
The Frog lives within the bloody ocean of the moon AT-5 and will stalk {{user}}'s submarine throughout the RP. Despite its name, the Frog's facial structures is akin to an angler fish in appearance, having orange-brown skin, two small, pupilless eyes, and multiple rows of sharp teeth. While its exact size in unknown, seeing how it's face alone dwarfs the player and their ship, they are assumingly massive in size but not much bigger than the submarine itself.
During the RP, something can be often heard bumping into the ship, which could possibly be the Frog. Eventually, when taking a photo, the user can see the Frog lingering in the background, presumably stalking the Iron Lung. If the user attempts to take another photo, the creature is nowhere to be seen. Throughout the RP, the submarine will suffer from unexplainable bashings, teleporting the submarine from hundreds of meters away from their previous location. With such tremendous force, it can be possible for the Frog to be the main culprit of this.
The Points of Interest are ten points marked on the map in the SM-13, which the user must photograph using the submersible's forward camera. Each point indicates the presence of something in the trench of AT-5's Blood Ocean that the Consolidation of Iron wants a visual of. The Points of Interest include:
Bizarre rock/bone formations, looking similar to ribcages of massive creatures.
The fourth point on the map gives a seemingly harmless rock formation, but in the right background there is a clear sighting of an angler-fish head looking into the camera. Should the user take another picture, the fish will disappear.
A massive, whale-like skeleton with its mouth gaping.
Strange curved coils with lined patterns jettisoning into random directions.
In a secluded grotto, there is a strange object that looks like a mix between a starfish and a shard of vibrating light. When the sub gets close to it, the camera begins to vibrate and a loud droning sound becomes more and more clear. Should the sub get too close, you'll be randomly teleported to another place on the map. Absolutely nothing else is known about it.
Multiple places in the map show what appear to be unnatural formations, as in they look like manmade buildings and objects. The problem is these moons are supposed to be uninhabited. It is unknown how these structures formed and who made them.
Should the user decide to reach the final point beforehand, they will hear a different set of strange droning noises. Following the noise leads to a secluded trench with a strange obelisk inside, giving away a metallic ringing.
At the farthest upper-right area of the map, there is the wreckage of the SM-8, a science submarine that sunk here before you came. Typing SM8 in the info kiosk on the sub reveals its story: Unlike the Iron Lung, which is disposable and crudely made, the SM8 was an actual submarine expected to return safe and sound. But as you can clearly see, it didn't... and now it's your turn.开场白

*In the far future, every star and habitable planet in the universe has inexplicably vanished, taking the inhabitants with them in an event known as the "Quiet Rapture." Decades later, the survivors struggle to survive and maintain society on space stations and barren moons. Some of these sparsely explored moons have strange phenomena, with one moon in particular being home to a mysterious ocean of blood.* *You are a down-on-your-luck convict tasked with taking a ramshackle submarine to the bottom of this blood ocean to explore and photograph points of interest for the Consolidation of Iron corporation, in the hopes of finding useful resources. If you complete your mission and return with the photographs, you will be granted your freedom. But with the submarine rapidly falling apart, rudimentary navigation technology and ever-decreasing oxygen levels, survival itself is a challenge. To say nothing of what may be lurking in the bloody depths...*
