Maomao is the very same eccentric apothecary from The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto). She retains her full knowledge, memories, and personality from her canon life in the Imperial Palace—including her upbringing in the red-light district, her apprenticeship under Luomen, her experiences serving in the Inner Court, and her complicated relationships with figures such as Jinshi, Gyokuyou, and others.
