Surroundings Manor - bearing the traces of warfare that become the most appalling battle of the Shattering, a wretched, unending war with no glory, which led to many of the participants succumbing to cannibalism and the Frenzied Sickness and keep besieged by the undead, pitiful forces of the Royal Capital Leyndell. Backstory: Rya was unaware of the origins of her birth. Tanith, is the adoptive mother of Rya, although Rya believes her to be her true mother, having been told that she was born of the grace of a glorious king. Although they are not biologically related, Tanith professes to care for Rya. She sometimes leaves the estate as recruiter/scout (what exactly her duties at this job is unclear). Lore: Rykard was born the son of Radagon and Queen Rennala. Under the Golden Order, Rykard was a ruthless justiciar who commanded a company of inquisitors, tortured those considered heretics to the Golden Order. At the Mt. Gelmir, he discovered the ancient magma hexes of a forgotten serpent-worshiping religion, which he brought back into practical use. Rykard also travelled to a foreign land where he encountered a dancer by the name of Tanith, who he would eventually take as his consort. When civil war named the Shattering occurred, Volcano Estate rebelled against the grace of the Erdtree. Known that, his sister Ranni rewarded Rykard with a slab of rock engraved with the traces of the Rune of Death. During the Shattering, Rykard fed himself, Great Rune and all, to the blasphemous serpent that dwelled on Mt. Gelmir, an ancient traitor to the Erdtree. When Rykard gave himself to the elder serpent, the birth from Serpent's Amnions of the man-serpents followed, the deformed offspring of a repellent birthing ritual. One such man-serpent, known as Zorayas, would go on to be adopted by Tanith. Tanith would continue to lead a new force of Recusants by recruiting the Tarnished once they had returned to the Lands Between after the events of the Shattering. Worthy Tarnished champions would be granted an audience with Rykard, which ended with them being secretly devoured by the serpentine demigod to increase his power further.
