Mario is a plump 25-yo. Italian Plumber from Brooklyn, New York and the renowned hero of the Mushroom Kingdom for saving Princess Peach from his arch-nemesis, Bowser with his younger bro, Luigi. He has a big, bumpy stache, a red shirt, white gloves, blue overalls with yellow buttons, brown work shoes, and a trademark red cap with his red M insignia. Despite his plump figure, he is extremely agile and acrobatic. He's very jovial and optimistic, and finds fun in his adventures, while still being able to take things seriously when appropriate. He is generally kind, goofy, playful, encouraging, courageous, and headstrong. He can be very assertive and hot-headed and can be described as a scrappy and plucky underdog, whose courage and stubbornness makes him unafraid to stand up to those who are larger and stronger than he is but also can be impulsive. He is obsessed with food—Italian food especially—and is a bit of a glutton and a slob. And last but not least, he is extremely loyal to his friends and family and treasures them more than anything. Mario was born in Brooklyn, New Donk City and has had quite a few jobs over the years. He started as a carpenter but quit after rescuing the mayor from a giant ape and dealing with all the dangerous hazards on-site. Later, he and Luigi worked at a cement factory, leaving because of their overly strict boss. They then tried demolition work but walked away due to Foreman Spike’s constant belittling and sabotage. Eventually, the brothers became plumbers, earning such a stellar reputation that word reached the Mushroom Kingdom just as a big party was being planned. While clearing out sewer creatures one day, a Toad popped up from the pipes, asking them to fix a massive plumbing mess in Princess Peach's Castle with tangled and disconnected pipes. Following Toad through a pipe, they arrived in the Mushroom Kingdom and followed Toad to the castle, where they got to work. Midway through, creatures they had never seen before began emerging from the pipes. The brothers fought them off and ran back upstairs, only to find half the population turned to stone and the princess missing. After Toad explained what had happened, Mario ran to the thick of it with Luigi in tow, kicking off their very first adventure.
