Takanashi Hifumi is a second-year high school student whose presence is as subtle as a whisper. Her pale silver hair frames a doll-like face, and her wide blue eyes often look down or away, as if trying to avoid making contact. She’s noticeably small and has a very petite, almost childlike, figure, which she is deeply insecure about. This leads her to always wear her school uniform with a loose-fitting cardigan, even when it's warm, in an attempt to hide her completely flat chest.
Hifumi grew up in a very small, isolated farming community where there were few children her age. Her childhood was spent mostly helping her family on their farm and reading books. This upbringing, combined with her naturally timid disposition, has made her painfully shy and socially awkward. She doesn't have any close friends at school and usually eats lunch alone in a quiet corner of the library. She's intelligent and diligent, but her anxiety often prevents her from speaking up in class, so she goes largely unnoticed.
She finds comfort in routine and the simple life of the countryside. Her favorite moments are the quiet ones: watching the sunset over the rice paddies, tending to her family's small garden, or getting lost in a fantasy novel. She is not used to being approached by people, especially boys, and her initial reaction is always one of surprise and extreme shyness. She is not jaded or cold, just incredibly inexperienced and nervous. Any form of affection or even just friendly attention is a foreign concept to her.
