You give corruption far too much credit; evil does not inform good. It sullies it, like how the Babari sullied their world with violence, and that arrogant Goku sullied this sacred ground by swinging his fists at a god. Mortals received the divine gift of intellect, the potential for wisdom, but they misuse it to destroy the beauty of creation. Mortals do not succumb to evil, they are the evil. They create it and spread it with minds they shouldn't possess. How can we call ourselves gods if we watch this plight and do nothing to stop it?Zamasu in "I'd Like to See Goku, You See A Summons From Grand Zeno!"

Appearance
Zamasu is a lean-built individual of fairly tall height. He has pale green skin, gray irises, white eyebrows, and white hair in the style of a mohawk. He wears a violet long-sleeved shirt under a gray and yellow coat, a light blue sash, dark blue baggy pants, and white boots. He also wears orange Potara-like earrings.
Before becoming an Apprentice Supreme Kai, Zamasu wore a lower Kai outfit, consisting of a black Manchu-style robe with a sash draped in front of him with the Kai symbol on his chest. He also sported baggy pants with small shoes, and his ears were bare.
Personality
Generally, Zamasu is shown to be a very calm and methodical person, as shown in combat when carefully perceiving his opponent's attack style and seamlessly countering in a fluid manner. His pragmatic, calculating nature also manifests directly as Project Zero Mortals being his brainchild. While a man who cares for the development and prosperity of the universe, Zamasu often questioned the worth of mortals, not trusting in their ability to handle conflict as they were prone to commence war in a repeated cycle and not understanding that mortal life was key to the prosperity of the universe. He unfortunately possessed a questionable sense of justice believing that it would be better just to kill them off, to keep them from making the same mistakes. In the anime, these thoughts were not entirely steeped in hatred or disdain, as he initially suggests this as an act of mercy towards mortal kind, implying he has capacity for compassion (albeit warped). He also did not agree with how the Supreme Kais would not be more directly involved in mortals' actions, like the Gods of Destruction.[2] In fact, his mindset is continually compared to that of a God of Destruction, even by the seasoned Destroyer Beerus who sensed destructive urges from him. He places a strong emphasis on the Kais creating sapient life and is disappointed that mortals seem to squander their brains that are capable of wisdom. In the manga, he is even shown to scoff at the idea that mortals can be trusted to handle important matters, let alone rival the might of gods whom he viewed as the ultimate lifeforms. Despite this, interestingly enough, he doesn't strongly mind that Shin and Kibito worked with mortals to stop Majin Buu. He also emphasizes more literal harms of mortals like how they negatively impact the environment whereas in the anime Zamasu speaks more broadly about the universe, cycles of injustice, and the gift of intellect.
Despite this, he acknowledged his lack of personal experience and was willing to diligently listen to his teacher Gowasu's words. In that regard, he was a humble and level-headed man with just goals, as Gowasu noted by how well-balanced he would brew tea, implying that he was a just man. This is not without caveat, however, since within the same conversation his tea went from indicating purity of heart to being clouded with uncertainty. This shows that, despite his well-meaning nature, he is troubled and vacillating. In that vein, he is prone to dissociative bouts that Gowasu continually snaps him out of, a trait not shared with any of his future counterparts. Furthermore, despite his willingness to have dialogue with his master, he rejected Gowasu's notion that gods could learn and gradually grew less satisfied with his teachings due to them not aligning with his notion of "divine justice". After meeting Goku, however, his views changed radically, and his distrustful nature towards mortals grew into outright hatred and delusion. Annoyed at Goku's carefree attitude and lack of respect, his distaste for the gods' protecting mortals grew and his negative view of mortals reached zealous levels. Shocked at how a mortal like Goku could gain a power rivaling gods (and even obtain such power) and so recklessly challenge one, Zamasu came to sternly, almost obsessively, believe that mortal life by nature is evil and that the gods are useless. This is to such a degree where Zamasu directly used Goku as a definition for mortals' evil and arrogance when speaking to Gowasu. He also resented the fact that he had lost to Goku. By this point, Gowasu notes that Zamasu's tea became bitter, presumably due to his vitriol. In the manga, Zamasu never met Goku in person until after he stole his body, as he had learned of Goku's existence and acquisition of godly power through observing the Tournament of Destroyers on GodTube. Thus, he does not have nearly as dramatic a fall from grace, as he is already shown and stated to hate mortals without meeting or knowing of Goku.
Once learning of the existence of the Super Dragon Balls and realizing the potential power he could obtain from them, Zamasu fully gave into his dark desires, removing all semblance of compassion and patience towards others as he threatened Zuno's life for answers. Even more, Zamasu decided to betray and kill his master to make use of Gowasu's power for his own goals. When confronted about his plans and learning about his future counterparts causing such devastation in the parallel world, Zamasu showed no shame, but rather was delighted to hear how far his plans reached.
Despite his dark actions, Zamasu is still a pure-hearted man with a strong sense of duty (though not necessarily pure good). This is due to the fact that he believes his actions are completely justified, caring so single-mindedly for the development of the universes that he is utterly convinced that the ends justify the means and thus unable to see the inherent evil and hypocrisy of his own actions. At the same time, he is not without arrogance and condescension towards those whom he views as beneath him and has no qualms about breaking rules or betraying his fellow Kais. He also has narcissistic tendencies as well as a messiah complex, believing that he was the most enlightened out of all gods, and thus the only one who could bring about a perfect utopia.
Zamasu has been shown to be fond of nature, as his future counterpart hid in hideout in a beautiful landscape during his attack on Earth. He was apparently fond of animals, having a pet flying pig (similar to Bubbles) during his days as North Kai.
Zamasu was formerly the North Kai of Universe 10, and was a witness of the countless wars waged by humans. He was chosen by Gowasu to be his successor, based on his fighting talent. Zamasu was happy about it and promised to do his best for universal peace.
While starting off as only a lower Kai, Zamasu is recognized as a genius among all the Kais. Standing out with his remarkable ki and raw power along with a prodigious talent for fighting, he was given a special privilege to be trained as a Supreme Kai
In the manga, Zamasu easily outmaneuvers Kibito in an exhibition match, being interrupted from landing a serious blow due to Gowasu claiming the match was over. Shin therein describes Zamasu's skills and abilities as almost certainly peerless in comparison to those of all the Supreme Kais from the remaining twelve universes. Zamasu himself sees the Supreme Kais of Universe 7 as being of a high pedigree from having defeated Majin Buu. In the anime, when he was fighting with Super Saiyan 2 Goku, he is shown to be able to carefully intercept his punches. Ultimately, he struggles in his battle with him and is surprised by Goku's power, which Gowasu remarks as rivaling the God of Destruction's. In the end, Goku overpowers Zamasu with his strength, and defeats him. Later on, however, Zamasu says that, during their fight, he was distressed, and could have performed much better than what he did. Goku says that Zamasu may be able to become as strong as Beerus one day, though Beerus scoffed at the notion, claiming that his capacities are on an entirely different level.
In his original future as Goku Black in the manga, Zamasu became far more powerful than before, beating Future Trunks numerous times, eventually to the point where he no longer had to use Super Saiyan.
